Grab your video camera and get busy!
It's easy to produce and edit your own video. All you need is:
- a video camera
- a PC
- a way to connect your camera to your PC
- internet access
The steps required to produce your video are different depending
on the equipment you're using, so let's get a few basics out of the way first.
Connecting your camera to your PC
If you have a fairly new DV cam, you'll find that connecting the camera to your PC is fairly easy. The
simplest and most advanced method to do this is via a firewire IEEE 1394 cable (your PC will need to
have a firewire port). If you don't have a firewire card installed, or you don't have a DV cam,
then you'll need to connect your camera using standard RCA cables (typically, you'll use a three cable set,
consisting of a red, white, and yellow cable) to make the connection. If you choose this option, you'll
need a device that connects to your PC and allows you to plug your camera into it.
Dazzle makes a wide variety of products for this purpose, and they're
all inexpensive, effective, and very easy to use.
Transferring Your Video
Once you have your camera connected, you'll need to get your video to your computer, and to do this,
you'll need to have video editing software. Many of the Dazzle products come with easy-to-use video
editing software, and there are several free software packages available for download online (see below). Any of
these programs are perfectly fine for importing your video, cutting out the parts you don't want,
stitching together the parts you do want, and saving your video in a format suitable for emailing to us.

Video Editing Software
You don't have to spend a lot of money on video editing software in order to contribute your videos
to UpcomingPornStars.com. Because you'll be emailing your videos to us, you won't want to have lots of
fancy effects and titles included. Just concentrate on your video's content, not its packaging, and you'll
make everyone happy!
If you're a windows XP user, you should have access to an included Microsoft video editing program. If not,
here are a few editing programs you can find online for free:

through your capturing and editing.
The Technical Stuff...
Okay, let's assume that at this point, you've successfully completed all of the above steps and your
video is now edited and put together just the way you want it. This last step is also the most important.
Because you'll be emailing your video to us, you'll need to make the final product as compact as possible.
This means that you'll need to save your video in an MPEG or AVI format instead of trying to send the raw,
uncompressed original video that you started with. All of the editing programs listed above have the
capability to save in a compressed format, so make sure to follow the instructions of the package you
choose to use.
Factors to consider when you're ready to save your videos and submit them:
- Video frame size is a critical factor - the smaller the frame size, the smaller the file size,
but if the frame is too small, your audience will have a difficult time viewing your creation.
UpcomingPornStars.com recommends (and requests) that your final video is encoded to be 320 x 240.
Your editing software will allow you to customize this frame size.
- Duration of your video - Try to be concise in your content. We all want to see the good stuff, but
keep in mind that the longer your video, the larger the file size. If your video requires a lot of time,
try to edit out the lengthy areas and create a short and to-the-point summary of all the action. Most videos
submitted to us max out at about 1 to 1.5 minutes.
- Be sure to export your video in the NTSC format, not PAL.
- Bitrate - you can adjust the bitrate of your video before you enocde the final product. Feel free to
experiment with this setting (if your software allows you to adjust it). The higher the bitrate, the
better quality your video and the larger the file size. Select a bitrate that provides good quality results
and a manageable file size.
- Frames per Second (FPS) - Your video in its original form will be coded at about 30 FPS. When you encode
your final project, you can keep the frame rate as is, but reducing it to about 24 or so will really help
keep your file size small.
- File Size - UpcomingPornStars.com will accept files as large as 5 megabytes. Larger files will not be
accepted.
